Rub the toothpaste into your jewelry, rinse with water and dry it with napkin/towel. simple as that :)

If anyone finds it suspicious to rinse it with water, just gently apply the toothpaste with the tissue and wipe it out.

set up recording studio home?

Posted: May 29, 2010 – 5:35 am

i am looking for professional quality recordings of rap vocals at an affordable price on my home pc. can somebody give me a few ideas on soundcards, mics, and a mixer to give me the best bang for my buck when it comes to sound quality??? help will be greatly appreciated

Instead of having to deal with soundcards, the easy way to do it is external hardware via Firewire or USB2.0. On the market right now is a Tascam US-122L. It goes for $149 and it is your sound card, mic pre-amp, and headphone amp. It has RCA and 1/4inch outs to plus directly into your monitors/computer speakers/home stereo.
It also comes with Cubase LE recording sofeware with all the vocal effects you would need. Usually rap is direct recording this can be perfect for it

For vocals, I usually use a saddled phantom power mic with a pop sheild on a stand(around $200-300 for a better quality mic) For rap you can normally use the onboard effects in Cubase like compression, overdrive, delay and such. If you want to thicken them up, buy a tube pre-amp for around $100. Behringer or ART have a good selection and are affordable with good quality.

I’ve dumped a few grand in my studio, but I’ve got a full, all-style, setup and a lot of equipment. For rap vocals, you can get away with minimal equipment.

*note* When recording vocals, no bathrooms. Closets with dampening material all over will eliminate reverb. Even using a closet full of clothes hung up will work well.

What items do I need to make a small little music studio in my room?

I want to make recordings of my voice, like singing, in a really good quality like in music studios. What exactly do I need? The microphones….Everything. And if you don’t mind me asking this too, what soft wares can edit my voice? Thanks.

If you have a mac, it comes with garageband, and all you would need is a USB mic and you would be set. It even has a bit of a tuning tool in it.

You can also look at things like the Mbox2 mini which is an audio interface that will allow you to plug a mic into it and plug that into the mic. This comes with protools which is the standard at studios. If you go this route you’ll need a mic. Then if you have to tune your voice get Antares Auto-tune. You can also find other interfaces similar to the Mbox brand for a lot cheaper. They wont come with protools, but it will come with some form of software that will work. Then you’d need to find a tuning program that is compatable.

You can find packages that come with an interface and mic, or mixers and mics that might be a better deal. Check sweetwater.com and musiciansfriend.com for packages, and interfaces to at least get you an idea about the products and prices

I am trying to start a home recording studio?

Posted: May 27, 2010 – 7:49 pm

Basically I’ve decided that I should start my own recording studio at home. I’m not good with all that technical stuff but I’m willing to give it a try. I’ve noticed that people that have recording studio’s are usually guys and they always want something from you in return. I don’t have a massive budget I just want to be able to make beats, tracks, and maybe record my guitar and sing. I would also like to be able to edit what I record. I called radioshack and the guy said to buy a recording package with comes with a mic, mic stand pro tools and other stuff, but he says I’m gonna need another program like fruit loops I have no idea what to do or where to start HEEEELP!!!!

hmmm… thanks for playing but maybe you should come back when you need pics for your cd cover. this is the photography category.

Are these prices correct for recording music at a professional studio? Thoughts?

Posted: May 27, 2010 – 7:49 pm

I just finished recording a song professionally at a music studio. They charged me $90 for 2.5 hours and I recorded about eight good tracks. My official track will be available next week and they are charging me an additional $140 for mixing, merging and adding extra instruments to the track. Is this about right??

Sounds good to me :) That’s actually pretty cheap.

Anyone know what would be the best equipment for starting a home recording studio?

Should I make music in my apartment or a music studio ?

Posted: May 20, 2010 – 9:41 am

How can I set up instruments in my apartment to create music?
I have very thin walls . So if i buy speakers it’ll be too loud. But I can use a headphone.
But my question is , wouldn’t it be better to use a speaker than to use a headphone while creating music?

If i move to a studio , how much would that cost. How does that work ?
Do i have to rent it or buy it ? What does the monthly rent run up to usually?
Thanks.

Get an amp that has a headphone jack.
It’s better to record with headphones anyway, so you can hear exactly what is going in.
It might clue you in to something that’s out that is going onto your recording.
