I just want a studio mic to run through garageband but i have previously had the samson c01u and it had transmission sound which i dont want. I want a professional sounding mic and i’m prepared to pay up to £200. I have been looking at the Rode NT1A, Beringher B1 and SEx1, any advice on a paticular mic i should get? thanks

Rode over the cheapie Behringer any day !!!!
Rode makes a very good mike for the money.
you can find their expensive models in the pro studios.

If that doesn’t help your problem, it’s somewhere else.

I am doing a research assignment on the recording arts, and I am looking for realistic figures in terms of setting up a home studio. Equipment would be like a 32 input/channel mixer, new computer, new recording and mastering software, those big speaker things, the correct amount of mics for varied instruments. I tried to come up with the figure myself, but i don’t really know what I am looking for when I research the products because I don’t know what one would normally use.

There is a lot of miscellaneous items you will need too (cables, stands, furniture etc etc) – add another $2000 or so. For around $7000, you can put together a pretty decent studio. Obviously you can spend more.

planning on recording guitar, vocals, bass, and i have a drum machine on computer already
need advice on mics, external soundcards etc… cheers guys

If you already have a computer then you can easily get started for much less than that.
