So I’m rapper on the street just casually and although im not new to rapping im new to the recording aspect of it will a berighner 802 bus mixer board connect a mxl 990 condenser Mic to my computer with the cords needed( and could you tell me the cords) if I have Windows 7 on a pretty recent dell desktop. If you need more specifics ask I would greatly appreciate it if you did thanks
acoustic treatment is very important, it will improve your recordings, and improve your mixes.

To start a home studio, stock a spare room with all of the necessary equipment, including a computer, high-quality microphones, condensers and speakers. Determine a budget before creating a home studio with information from an independent recording engineer and producer in this free video on music recording.

We cut a solid wood door in half and padded the edges like a bar top to make a nice desktop for this home studio. Music by chan the man.

i have a decent home studio that I am trying to expand. I was wondering what are some things that are essential to ensure sound quality in a studio? im not necessarily looking for serious professional quality, but just the closest I can get on a budget of around $1,000 more or less. I record (rock/pop) vocals, piano, guitar for the most part. here’s a list of my current equipment:
MacBook Pro (for recording)
Logic Studio
M-Audio ProFire 2626 (interface)
2 Mackie MR5 monitors
Roland FP-7
Fender Deluxe HSS Strat
Taylor 314
Blue Baby Bottle
SM-58
Sterling Audio ST-51
I don’t have any isolation material either
Murph. I think you SHOULD go for serious professional quality. Audio quality these days is not as much about the gear as it is about the knowledge and processes you use. Trust me when I say you have more than enough in your current studio to give you serious professional quality. The absolute most important thing you can do now to get better quality than what you’re getting (presumably you’re not that happy with it) is to pay VERY close attention to getting the cleanest tones/signal into the Mac as humanly possible, combined with a little bit of process know-how. For example, since you have no room treatments, close-mic everything to keep the room sound to a minimum. Also, don’t put any effects on anything (except maybe a limiter if you must) during tracking. Double-track your Taylor (I have a 314 too…LOVE it!) and pan hard left and right for big acoustic sound. Make maximum use of the stereo field (some things stereo and some things not! Spread them around), make minimum use of compression. In fact, if you don’t have a really good one, it is a good idea to "manually compress" the vocal using track envelopes. It takes longer, but you have total control and you’ll avoid the all-too-common nasty side effects of over-compression.
These tips should help. Oh, and I actually do have one suggestion for your next piece of gear. Get a small-diaphragm condenser such as the Sure SM-81. It RAWKS on the Taylor!
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ken

A conventional recording studio needs this equipmenbt
* Microphone + Pop filter + Mic Stand + PreAmp
* SoundCard – Interface
* Mixer
* Cables

This answer should give you some good products that I like, but you can always pick your own stuff.

I already got some songs wrote for my rap persona Madam Auhem 117, including my remix to We Be Steady Mobbin
, and Ive got them done I just need to record them, whats some good equipment? And I want to try an autotune out too to see how much it helps me with my singing parts of some of my more RnBish songs
Do you think anyone would guess that "auhem" is "wayne" spelled backwards & upside down?

Okay.. This sounds really hopeless I know, (Haha xD) but my friend is a pretty good singer, and is looking to pursue a singing career, as I’m learning to play guitar. (Kinda like a duo thing?
) Anyways, she really wants to have a few songs she’s written recorded, but 1. No recording studios near us, and 2. Um, hello, thats like, EXPENSIVE. (<- Did not mean to sound like a stuck up person there.
) But anyways, I was wondering about how much it would cost for just the basics to at home recording? Like the mic, software, etc.. Keep it simple, I know nothing about it. xDD Haha, plus, about how much would it cost? Thanks in advance!!!(:
I just answered this same question for another Yahoo Answers user and received a Best Answer for it. Here is the link … http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuSgW9I544JUeMBdTrsvDyDty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20110507094426AArFjvH
You might also want to listen to these recordings and pay attention to the performances. If you have any remote idea of turning pro, the performance is what does it for you. These are young folks just like you trying to make it in the music business … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3fUDsy7Zmg (Megan uses Pro Tools to record with) – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ7gUcEPaGs – If you can achieve this level of professionalism, then you can sell your music on iTunes.
