im interested in building the booth out of pvc and audimute sheets, my question is whether or not it will take away alot of the reverb i am getting in my room. and if it will give me a dryer signal for vocals, i was gonna pick up the reflexion filter but the guy at guitar center recomended a $150 mic stand and i wasnt ready to spend that much.

This was a great video. I just bought the reflexion yesterday. Didn’t know about the aurelex. I will pick that up also. The tidbit about the mics is priceless. My current mic is picking up the sound of the furnace pilot light. It’s been driving me crazy for the longest. I will try out some other mics to see if I get better results. I’m also going to play around with a noise gate. Your fellow Sheengineer!

Good stuff! In the $0-100 category you can make a Porta-Booth (search YouTube for it) for $25-30. Harlan Hogan’s site (Google “portabootharticle”) tells you about it and how to make one. Works well and it’s portable. Noisy house? Put he Porta-Booth, laptop, and mic in your car and drive to a quiet place and record in your car.
