i have cool edit pro, i have a usb mic now but it wont cut it.. i need something good, but not too expensive, what microphone would be best to record with this program?

It’s generally better to spend the money and buy an actual USB recording interface (audio interface), and a separate mic. This will make things a lot easier for you.

Hey there,

You can start with audacity software (it’s free), but that’s just for beginning. You have to decide to a better recording software later. I recommend Cubase.

It contains one of the best setups on a pretty low budget. Remember to buy a mic stand, headphones and studio monitors along with it.
