I’m starting my own music studio. What is the best way to advertise my private studio?

Do those online music teacher registry services actually work? Are they cost effective? And if they are, which ones? Is it better to only join services that cater exclusively to you local area or are the nationwide lists also productive. Thank you for your help.

First, you have to cater to your local area and spread out from there. I would advertise at food mart, high schools, music store, walmart even. Actually, you need exposure so you need to place your bulletin with tear-off or your flyer, in places where their is high volume traffic.

Another point to put in your flyer is the instrument you play. Ex, if you are guitarist, you can add something to the efect like " Professional inexpensive demo records" or "Record yourself on a budget" etc..

Finally, set up your own website or myspace and advertise advertise advertise. You will be surprise at the response.

I’m a Professional Graphic Artist and have made quite a few flyers for online teachers and they are pleased at the result. I didn’t charge for my work either. I don’t mind helping out. Who knows whats in store for the future if they succeed.
All I did was design a nice 4-color punchy flyer. Sent it to them via email and it was ready for print without any further touch-ups.

Good Luck !!
