I’d like to purchase a laptop-using maxic studio on my computer at home and need a portable unit for my band-
however , I am reading where keyboards lock up on macs and their battery life is lower than advertised by hours.
What should I look for-hard drive-memory-etc-what is your experience- I would appreciate experienced input and thank you for it.

Apple’s release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard appears to have brought with it battery drain and intermittent keyboard freezing issues, which are plaguing some MacBook and MacBook Pro owners. Numerous posts in Apple’s support forums for both notebooks detail an issue that essentially shuts down the keyboard at random intervals, and affected owners report having to restart or wake their systems if the problem doesn’t resolve itself in good time. Trackpads and external keyboards still function normally, however, as noted by AppleInsider.
Users attempting to correct the problem have gone so far as to reset the affected notebook’s PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory) to no avail. Users also say they are still experiencing the problem on freshly-installed Macs, which effectively rules out third-party software as the culprit.

I’ve never had my keyboard lock up on my Macs and I’ve owned four of them. MacBook and MacBook Pro battery life is actually very good. It’s much better than any PC notebook that I’ve ever seen. For recording, you can’t beat a Mac. They come with Garageband, which has been good for my recording so far. Garageband is better than most of the recording software that I’ve used on PCs. If you do happen to need something more advanced, you also have Logic Express and Logic Studio. The best of the best. I’m sorry, but I would never recommend a PC for recording. The recordings I’ve been doing on my Mac sound so much better than recordings I’ve done on PCs.
