MacBook and MacBook Pro battery life is actually very good. It's much better than any PC notebook that I've ever seen. For recording, you can't beat a Mac. They come with Garageband, which has been good for my recording so far. Garageband is better than most of the recording software that I've used on PCs. If you do happen to need something more advanced, you also have Logic Express and Logic Studio. The best of the best. I'm sorry, but I would never recommend a PC for recording.
