Alright, me and my Dad are about to invest into a home recording studio and we need to know everything about everything. Like some good recording hardware and software, if we should get an electric or acoustic drum set and if so what’s good, and like what type of computer we should use. PRICES ARE A MUST!!!! You know, just the basics. Genres recorded will be: Jazz, Metal, and MAYBE Rap.
I would at least start with an electric drum set, like the roland one. It doesn’t sound 100% real, but it is so much easier than trying to record real drums, its almost impossible to make real drums sound good. I just use garageband to mix the tracks, and I use a korg recording system. Also, I recommend one good mic for the singing, but you don’t need anything too fancy for instruments. Look at the violet black knight microphone, its expensive, but it makes vocals sound awesome.
